TransTech Academy Exhibits at the TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, D. C.
January 11-14, 2009
TransTech Academy was one of more than 140 exhibitors at the Transportation Research Board (of the National Academies) 88th Annual Meeting, January 11-14, 2009. The exhibit held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel was designed and manned by

the students and staff of TransTech. The sold-out exhibit hall, included commercial exhibitors, featuring transportation tools, technologies and services as well as exhibitors from public and federal transportation agencies. This year marked the fourth opportunity that TransTech has been afforded to exhibit at TRB’s Annual Meeting.
The TRB annual Meeting covers all transportation modes, with more than 3,500 presentations in 550 sessions addressing topics of interest to all attendees—policy makers, administrators, practitioners, and researchers; and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions. This year’s spotlight theme is “Transportation, Energy, and Climate Change.” The Annual Meeting, which draws attendees from throughout the United States and from more than 65 countries, is perhaps the single largest gathering of transportation practitioners and researchers in the world.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2009, 40 students and teachers attended the Chairman’s Luncheon at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. The Luncheon is a premier event and the largest single gathering at the Annual Meeting. Mr. Lawrence Burns, Vice President of Research & Development and Strategic Initiatives at General Motors Corporation, was the featured speaker. Mr. Burns, champion at GM of the “reinvention” of the automobile around advanced propulsion, electronics, telematics, and materials technologies— shared his views on the future of the U.S. motor vehicle industry in light of the nation’s energy and environmental challenges.
