TransTech Academy has received funding for the Black Engineer of the Year (BEYA) Global Competitiveness Conference from Northrop and Grumman in the amount of $8,000! This was made possible by Ms. Gloria D. Pualani - Corporate Director, Socio Economic Business Programs/Government Relations and Ms. Sandra Evers-Manly, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility of Northrop and Grumman.

Twenty students in grades 10-12 will be able to attend the BEYA conference in Baltimore, Maryland, February 19-22. These 20 students include tenth grade students in the first TransTech’s pre-engineering class. For more than two decades, the BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference has attracted top professionals and students from every part of the nation and every field of science, engineering, and technology. The BEYA conference will provide our students with exposure to minority professionals in the field of engineering from throughout the country.

Students will have an opportunity to participate in seminars and workshops including Dining and Business Etiquette, Team Building, and Resume Writing. They will also attend a Career Fair and engage in hands-on activities that will prepare them for academic and professional careers in mathematics, science and engineering.

Completing the three-day event, the BEYA Awards Ceremony will recognize the achievement of African-American leaders in the field of engineering.
